This website started out looking into declassified documents obtained by way of the U.S. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), which are publicly accessible at the CIA’s Freedom of Information Act Electronic Reading Room, with a focus on looking at CIA projects that had created, or instrumentalized existing, far-right groups in Germany for various political and paramilitary purposes.
The idea was to create profiles of leaders of such groups, as well as the agency personnel responsible for handling such liaisons. Since documents are only released after certain retention periods, this unfortunately limited the scope to the past. Furthermore, any declassified material must be considered a very partial faction of actually existing intelligence, whose analysis is further hampered by censorship (blotting out of names, passages, or sometimes pages on end).
Since this platform also wants to shed light on the contemporary far right, intelligence projects are now in a separate tab (Projects). The rest of the site focuses on:
- Far-right groups and organizations from the past and present, including parties, associations, clubs, sects, companies, loose groupings etc.
- Key far-right individuals or intelligence personnel having controlled far-right groups
- Key events in the far-right scene
